Helping Someone You Love Find a Safe Place

For families navigating the process of finding stable, supportive housing for a daughter, sister, mother, or friend.

You're Not Alone in This Search

When someone you love is struggling — whether with mental health, recovery, a difficult life transition, or simply the need for a fresh start — finding the right housing can feel overwhelming. Families often carry the weight of this search while also managing their own worry and uncertainty.

This page is designed to help families understand their options, ask the right questions, and access financial assistance programs that may be available. Steady Path Home is a privately operated women's supportive residence in Quincy, and we work with many families who are helping arrange housing for a loved one.

What to Look for in a Supportive Residence

Is the environment safe and substance-free?

Ask directly about house standards and how they are maintained. A well-run residence will be transparent about expectations for all residents.

What is included in the weekly or monthly fee?

Understand exactly what housing fees cover — utilities, Wi-Fi, bedding, toiletries, parking — and what residents are responsible for purchasing themselves.

What is the move-in process and deposit structure?

Ask about the security deposit, how it is held, and what the terms are for refund or forfeiture. Clarity here protects everyone.

Is there staff or management available?

Understand who manages the property, how to reach them, and what the process is for addressing concerns or maintenance needs.

What is the community like?

Ask about the other residents, the general atmosphere, and whether the environment feels like a good fit for your loved one's current needs and goals.

How Steady Path Home Works for Families

Many of our residents come to us through a family member who found us while searching for options. We welcome families who want to learn more about our environment, ask questions, and arrange a conversation before their loved one moves in. Our weekly housing fee is $300, with a one-week security deposit due at move-in. We provide a furnished bed in a shared bedroom, along with utilities, Wi-Fi, bedding, toiletries, and on-site parking. Residents are responsible for their own food and personal expenses. We are a private residence — not a nonprofit, not a shelter, and not a clinical program.

We're Happy to Answer Your Questions

If you're researching options for someone you love, we'd be glad to have a conversation about whether Steady Path Home might be a good fit.
